This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) applies to your use of the Savetogether.org Website (the “Website”). The Website is owned and operated by SaveTogether, a Washington non-profit corporation (“Company” “we” or “us”). This Policy is designed to tell you how we collect and use personal information (as defined below) so you can make an informed decision about using our Website. This policy does not apply to third-party sites. By using our Website, you consent to the information collection and use practices described herein. This Policy may be changed at any time and is effective as of the date posted. Material changes to this Policy will appear in boldface text. Prior versions will be archived for your review.

WHAT IS PERSONAL INFORMATION

"Personal information" means information collected online that specifically identifies an individual (such as a user's name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, credit card or other account number).

HOW DO WE COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Personal information may be collected in a number of ways when you visit our Website. First, we collect certain personal information you voluntarily provide to us (if you donate to a Saver, participate in the Program or follow a Saver by logging in to our Website).

When you visit our Website, some information is also automatically collected through the use of log files, such as your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address, your computer's operating system, the browser type, the address of a referring web site and your activity on the Website. We use this information to analyze trends, administer the Website, improve customer service, track user movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We may also automatically collect certain information through “cookies,” which are small data files that are stored on a user's hard drive at the request of a Web site to enable the site to recognize users who have previously visited them and retain certain information such as customer preferences and history. If cookies are linked to any personally identifying information, we treat this information as personal information. If your browser is set not to accept cookies, you may be unable to access certain Site features or services. If you wish to block, erase, or be warned of cookies, please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn about these functions.

HOW DO WE USE THE PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT?

In general, we use personal information to assist us with the operation of the Website and of our business:

  • for the purpose for which it was collected (i.e., a donation transaction);
  • to send you a welcoming email about your use of the Site, such as for administrative purposes, or to provide you with customer service;
  • to contact you regarding any items or materials you may have submitted to us;
  • to respond to your comments, requests or complaints;
  • to request feedback and to enable us to develop, customize and improve the Site and our publications, products and services; and
  • to contact you about our Programs, activities or special events or offers and for other internal marketing, informational and promotional purposes.

We may also receive information from third parties with whom we have business relationships, and may combine this information with the other personal information we have about you. In such cases, this Policy governs our use and disclosure of such information.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE SHARE WITH THIRD PARTIES?

We will not sell, collect, use, share, or rent any personal information for purposes other than those described in this Policy without first obtaining your consent. We may provide aggregate information to third parties without your authorization.

We may share personal information with third party vendors, consultants and other service providers who work with us to operate the Website and our business and who need access to such information. For example, we may use credit card processing companies to process payments and outside companies to deliver publications and other products and services offered by us. In addition, we may partner with other sites or organizations to provide specific information, site features, programs or services and will share information with them as needed in order to facilitate their provision of such items or services subject to this Policy. In some cases, we may contract with third parties to operate certain site features or functions who may directly collect personal information from you. While they may share that information with us we are not responsible for how they treat personal information. Information that is intended to be made public, including postings in forums or any other interactive areas of the Website or other information is not considered personal information under this Policy.

We also may disclose personal information when we are required to, or we have a good-faith belief it is appropriate to comply with the law (e.g., a lawful subpoena, warrant or court order); to enforce or apply this privacy policy or our other policies or agreements; to initiate, render, bill, and collect for amounts owed to us; to protect our Company or our customers' rights, property or safety; to protect our customers from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful use of, our Site; or if we believe that an emergency involving immediate danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires disclosure of personal information. Personal information may be disclosed as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of company assets, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy or receivership in which personally identifiable information could be transferred to third parties as one of the business assets of the Company. The Website may contain links to other sites or be linked through sites operated by third parties that are not under our control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties and their sites.

WHAT STEPS DO WE TAKE TO PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION ONLINE?

We use reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and improper use. For example, when we communicate with Paypal, we use a secure server with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption software that makes unauthorized access difficult. However, we restrict access to employees, contractors or agents who need to know personal information to operate, develop or improve the site that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. Additionally, your account information is accessible online only through the use of a password. To protect the confidentiality of your personal information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for all uses of the Site by any person using your password. Please advise us immediately by emailing us at info@savetogether.org if you believe your password has been misused.
