-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wendi, a single parent with a 13 year old daughter, has lived in the Spokane area for most of her life. She overcame drug addiction and has been clean and sober for 5 years now, motivated primarily by the hurt she could see in her daughter's eyes and her desire to give her a good life. Wendi completed her education and works full-time as a case manager helping people with AIDS. When she's not working, she is an advocate for cultural awareness in the schools, and is involved in her daughter's sports programs. Her mom lives across the street and has been a great support to her. Wendi budgets her money, and feels putting money in a matched savings account is a winning strategy, allowing her to accumulate an amount that would be impossible for her to save in a reasonable amount of time from her earnings alone. Wendi believes owning a home in a safe neighborhood will help give her daughter the strong foundation necessary to stay on the path to success and avoid the bad choices that so many teen-agers make, as Wendi knows well. She will be attending first time homebuyer classes to help her be ready to buy in a year. Wendi is proud to have become a productive citizen, someone who can give to society, not take away, and most of all someone who is now a good example to her daughter.
